OUR INVOLVEMENT

Two phases of geotechnical investigation including:

  • Deep cored boreholes
  • Salinity and contamination assessment reports
  • Numerical analyses to assist with pile design.

Project challenges

The warehouse development was in an old quarry backfilled with uncontrolled fill. Sections of the development were heavily loaded and sensitive to total and differential settlements, and a steep slope lined one side of the site. Deep pile footings needed to be installed using powerful rigs and a significant piling rig working platform was required to provide a stable working area.

Our solutions

JK Geotechnics completed pile design analyses for individual structural elements using specialist pile design software in close liaison with the structural engineer to optimise pile socket lengths and diameters and allow for negative skin friction associated with ongoing settlement of the uncontrolled fill. JK Geotechnics also successfully designed and specified the piling rig working platform.
